I know this will be obvious to most, but how do I edit tyhe “about” section/text please?

not sure but the about is a page - you should go to manage page edit the about and you are in it

I’m not sure to to edit that, it has to do with a theme you need to have already installed called k2. But I sure as hell figured out how to delete it! Open leftsidebar.php and delete line 13-17.

Okay, I got it. You have to download and install take k2 theme for it to work. Then you can edit it by going to Site Admin > Presentation. You’ll see the options to edit the Anaconda theme next to Themes and Theme Editor. Scroll down and you’ll see the box the edit the ‘About’ block. It will say ‘This is the about text.’ You can edit the text or delete it to make it not show up at all.

You don’t need K2 theme. Just go to Presentation/Anaconda Options and you can edit it.

I'm wondering how you can change the title of "About" for that section to something else. This is different even on your sample of this theme. If I remember right, you've got it titled "Advertisements". How can a person change that??

Hi,
I will like to address two different actions here.
First, if you are trying to change the text, that appears in the About section(widget) of the sidebar, you can easily do it from the options panel of Anaconda Theme.
Secondly, if you are trying to add some section like the About section in your sidebar, there is another widget in the Anaconda Theme's widget panel, namely Text. You can use this widget to display any text with any title as you like, in your sidebar.
I hope these two widgets solves all your requirements of inserting different types of texts in sidebars. If still you have any considerations or further requirements, I would be much eager to know and fulfill.

Well, I'm running an older version of Wordpress (2.0), which I may be upgrading, so perhaps that's why I can't change much. I completely understand how to change the text withing the About widget. My question is this - how do you change the TITLE of that widget from "About" to something else? I KNOW it's possible because even the Anaconda theme sample itself has "Anaconda Theme" as the functioning red text atop that widget field. It's then followed below it by another titled "Advertisements". Take a look for yourself:

Is my inability to change these things because of the old version of WP I'm using? Or is there a fix?

Summary: Use the Text widget instead. You can change the title as well as the text of a Text widget.

About widget is a simple extension of Text widget with a fixed title (About) but the text can be changed from Anaconda Options. It is designed to be the About section.

Text widget is more generic. Here you can change the title as well as the text.

O.K., great... now for what may be a dumb question... where is the configuration panel for this text widget? Because in my Dashboard, there simply ISN'T any such option. To get to 'Anaconda Options' to edit the ''About'' section, I go to Presentation-->Anaconda Options then scroll down to the 'About Text' box. There's no way to change the title of this box, just the text within it.

Remember that I want to change the heading of this section from 'About' to something else...

Go to Presentation -> Widgets (Not in Anaconda Options).
There you will find a Widget named Text. Drag n Drop that widget in your sidebar, this enables the widget.


Now click on the right top of the widget and edit its settings.

Here specify the TITLE and TEXT you want to have.
You can add as many text widgets as you wish.
Thats all.

Well now I KNOW what the problem is - I don't have a 'Widget' option under 'Presentation'. It must be because of the fact my version of Wordpress is 2.0? I REALLY don't want to upgrade to 2.5, because of all the problems I've read about people having. Would upgrading to 2.3 perhaps be good enough? I REALLY want to have more control over my presentation...

Ok, so thats your problem. Wordpress 2.0 has no inbuilt widget option under presentation.
You have two options now. 1st you can upgrade to wordpress 2.3, though we are using worpdress 2.5 well. 2ndly you can also install some plugin which enables widgets in wordpress 2.0.
But the 1st option is preferable.
By the way if you haven't used widgets till now, you are just loosing a lot of usability features of Anaconda Theme. Resolve it with high priority. You will have more easy control over your blog and your horizon will be more widened.

Got things updated to 2.3 and it took ALL DAY to get everything resolved. Maybe it's my webhosting techs, but things went very rocky. For one, I couldn't, and still can't get MyLinkOrder and the MyCategoryOrder plugins to work. I'm really puzzled on that yet, but already contacted the plugin author about it...

Anyhow, I'm wondering if there are any other suggestions people could give me in the way of Anaconda friendly widgets. Thanks a bunch in advance!
