Dunkelbarger Advising Using Burner 2.0 Irons
Dunkelbarger and his team are now working with the Pekin Park District and The Sunset Hills Club. Both sites have pledged to accommodate the youth programs with course access and special learning spaces for programs developed within the guidelines of the Hook a Kid on Golf Foundation selling The curriculum includes positive lifestyle choices as well as golf skills. “Its life lessons,” said Dunkelbarger, adding that golf in itself promotes a long list of character attributes, including discipline, persistence, confidence, etiquette, and honesty. “Everyone wins, because they compete against themselves.” Apparently, increased self-esteem is one benefit that is contagious. Dunkelbarger said that children at the Boys and Girls Club who were not interested in the program at first, or even teased those participating, were eager to participate after watching the other children receive
burner 2.0 irons from the volunteers.“It’s not a tough decision,” he said. “They’d just as soon be complimented for doing something good.” Dunkelbarger promises that once kids get hooked; he’ll do all he can to pursue grants to fund them until they’re 16.
