Have you used the PHP Hardening path or Suhosin? What is your experience with them? Quote: Suhosin is an advanced protection system for PHP installations. It was designed to protect servers and users from known and unknown flaws in PHP applications and the PHP core. Suhosin comes in two independent parts, that can be used separately or in combination. The first part is a small patch against the PHP core, that implements a few low-level protections against bufferoverflows or format string vulnerabilities and the second part is a powerful PHP extension that implements all the other protections.
Unlike the PHP Hardening-Patch Suhosin is binary compatible to normal PHP installation, which means it is compatible to 3rd party binary extension like ZendOptimizer. - Source

PHP is widely used all over the internet, I have always admired the flexibility and usability of PHP. The protection of PHP is must as many of the websites are built with that. Suhosin is very much an advanced product and that would enable more security to PHP. Another advantage of Suhosin is that it can be used in two ways, separately or in combination's. I would also say that there would be no much cost involved for the implementation of Suhosin.

The Hardening-Patch is a patchset that adds security hardening features to PHP to protect your servers on the one hand against a number of well known problems in PHP applications and on the other hand against potential unknown vulnerabilities within those applications or the PHP core itself. I found these information in a brilliant tutorial site, I hope you will be satisfy. Hardening Patch for PHP - The Suhosin Hardening-Patch for PHP provides low-level protections that cannot be implemented with an extension such as Zend-created vulnerabilities and PHP core vulnerabilities such as buffer overflows and format string vulnerabilities. Consequently, the patch is PHP version-specific. Suhosin Extension - The Suhosin Extension contains the bulk of suhosin's protection features. It's focus is to protect from code-level vulnerabilities and hacker tricks. It is not PHP version-specific. Custom Writing

Depending on the installation path you want to choose you should now grab a copy of PHP with the Hardening-Patch already applied, or a fresh PHP tarball and the latest version of the Hardening-Patch. Term Papers
